Volant Closed Box Air Intake Oiled Filter

2003–2007 Dodge Ram 2500/3500 5.9L Cummins Non HO

Part #: 16759

Overview

The Volant Closed Box Air Intake with an oiled filter is engineered specifically for the 2003 to 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 equipped with the 5.9L Cummins Non HO engine. Designed to enhance your truck’s performance, this intake system optimizes airflow by replacing the restrictive factory air intake with a high-flow, free-breathing design. It delivers improved throttle response, increased horsepower potential, and better fuel efficiency while maintaining superior engine protection.

Ideal for diesel enthusiasts who demand reliable power and durability, the Volant intake system is built to withstand the rigors of both on-road and off-road driving. Its closed box design helps shield the intake from heat soak and contaminants, ensuring consistent performance in all conditions.

Key Features

This Volant air intake system offers a range of advanced features tailored for severe duty diesel applications:

• Includes a Volant Primo Diesel air filter with 8 layers of premium textiles for maximum filtration and airflow
• Filter media pleated between top and bottom aluminum screens for enhanced durability and structural integrity
• Closed box design reduces heat soak, maintaining cooler air intake temperatures for improved combustion
• Engineered specifically for the 5.9L Cummins Non HO engine to ensure perfect fit and optimal performance
• Free-flowing filter media promotes higher airflow rates than stock filters, supporting increased engine output
• Long service intervals with filter life up to 40,000 miles depending on driving conditions
• Constructed to withstand harsh environments typical of severe duty trucks
• Simple bolt-on installation with no permanent modifications required

Construction & Design

The Volant Closed Box Air Intake is crafted with high-quality materials designed for durability and performance. The air filter features eight layers of tightly woven textile media, sandwiched between robust aluminum screens that provide structural support and resist damage from debris and rough handling. The closed box housing is engineered to protect the filter element from heat and contaminants, ensuring the engine receives cooler, cleaner air for optimal combustion.

Every component is precision-engineered to fit the factory mounting points on the Dodge Ram 2500/3500 5.9L Cummins Non HO, ensuring a secure and vibration-resistant installation. The design balances airflow efficiency with filtration effectiveness, making it suitable for both daily driving and demanding work environments.

Performance & Sound

By increasing the volume and quality of air delivered to the engine, the Volant intake system helps improve combustion efficiency, which can translate into enhanced throttle response and potential gains in horsepower and torque. The closed box design also helps reduce intake noise compared to open element filters, providing a more refined engine sound while still allowing the diesel engine’s natural growl to be heard.

Installation & Fitment

Installation of the Volant Closed Box Air Intake is straightforward and designed to be a direct replacement for the factory air intake system on 2003–2007 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks with the 5.9L Cummins Non HO engine. No cutting, drilling, or permanent modifications are necessary. The kit includes all necessary hardware and detailed instructions to facilitate a smooth, hassle-free installation process that can typically be completed with basic hand tools.
