Banks Power Intercooler Upgrade

Ram 2500 / 3500 13-18 6.7L Diesel

Part #: 25987

Overview

The Banks Power Intercooler Upgrade is a high-performance cooling solution designed specifically for the 2013–2018 RAM 2500 and 3500 trucks equipped with the 6.7L Cummins engine. This upgrade enhances your engine’s ability to maintain consistent power output under extreme conditions by significantly improving airflow and cooling efficiency. Ideal for enthusiasts and professionals who demand reliable, continuous power, the Banks intercooler prevents engine derate, lowers exhaust gas temperatures (EGTs), and improves fuel economy.

By upgrading from the stock intercooler to this Banks system, you unlock a substantial power increase—calculated at an additional 27 horsepower and 51 lb-ft of torque—while ensuring your engine runs cooler and more efficiently during heavy-duty or high-performance use.

Key Features

This intercooler upgrade kit is engineered to deliver superior performance and durability. Key features include:

• Flows 48% better than the stock intercooler for improved boost air density
• Includes massive high-flow boost tubes with oversized mandrel-bent pipes for optimized airflow
• Thicker intercooler core increases cooling area and volume for enhanced heat dissipation
• All-aluminum end tanks with wide-open inlet and outlet ports maintain peak performance
• Reduces pressure loss by 55%, maximizing boost efficiency and power gains
• Designed to balance richer fuel mixtures with cooler, denser air for higher continuous power
• Prevents engine derate by maintaining lower EGTs under demanding conditions
• Improves fuel economy through more efficient combustion
• Mounting hardware included for a complete upgrade

Construction & Design

The Banks intercooler system is built with durability and performance in mind. Featuring a thicker core than stock units, it provides a larger cooling surface area and increased volume to handle higher airflow and heat loads. The intercooler’s end tanks are crafted from high-efficiency aluminum, ensuring lightweight strength and excellent thermal conductivity. The boost tubes are mandrel-bent and oversized to match the intercooler’s enhanced flow characteristics, minimizing turbulence and pressure drop throughout the intake path.

Every component is engineered to withstand the rigors of heavy-duty use and extreme temperatures, making this upgrade a reliable choice for both daily driving and demanding work or performance applications.

Performance & Sound

The Banks intercooler upgrade significantly enhances engine performance by increasing boost air density and reducing intake temperatures. This results in a calculated gain of +27 horsepower and +51 lb-ft of torque, allowing your Cummins engine to deliver stronger, more consistent power at any exhaust gas temperature. Additionally, the improved cooling capacity helps lower EGTs, which protects engine components and supports longer, sustained power output without derate.

While primarily focused on performance and efficiency, this upgrade also contributes to smoother engine operation and improved throttle response, enhancing the overall driving experience.

Installation & Fitment

This intercooler upgrade is designed as a direct fit for 2013–2018 RAM 2500 and 3500 trucks equipped with the 6.7L Cummins engine. Installation is straightforward with included mounting hardware, requiring no major modifications. Professional installation is recommended to ensure optimal fitment and performance, but experienced enthusiasts can complete the upgrade with basic hand tools and mechanical knowledge.
