Technical Foundation
Complete vs Tuner Kit & Roots vs Centrifugal
Understanding these concepts will help you choose the right kit. Our Supercharger Buyers Guide covers this in depth; here’s the essentials.
Complete Kit vs Tuner Kit
A Tuner Kit is the supercharger hardware only. It does not include: larger fuel injectors, upgraded MAP sensor, fuel pump (or booster), handheld programmer/flash tool, or the supercharger tune. Those components are 100% necessary to run safely. All kits in this guide are Complete Kits — no Tuner Kits for the Gladiator JT 3.6L.
A Complete Kit includes fuel injectors, MAP sensor, fuel pump upgrade, flash tool, and tuning. It’s 100% bolt-and-go for stock or lightly modified Gladiators.
Roots vs Centrifugal
Roots-style (Edelbrock) superchargers mount in the intake manifold. They deliver more low-mid range torque and instant throttle response. Edelbrock uses the TVS R1320 rotor assembly.
Centrifugal (ProCharger, Ripp) superchargers mount off the side of the engine. Ripp uses a Vortech V-3 head unit (proven, streetable); ProCharger uses the P-1SC-1. Per the Buyers Guide: “If you are a 3.6L V6 Pentastar owner, then Ripp is probably the best option for you.” Both centrifugal options build power toward mid-high RPM. Ripp includes 1-step colder spark plugs; ProCharger does not.
Important
What to Know Before You Buy
Tuning & Unlocked PCM (2018+)
2018+ Gladiator JT has a locked PCM. Ripp 3.6L kits use HP Tuners with PCM unlock included at no extra cost. ProCharger uses DiabloSport — you’ll need to send your PCM to DiabloSport (~$300) or purchase a new unlocked PCM (~$1k). Edelbrock includes a custom tuner. Critical: ProCharger requires you to email them your backup tune and head unit serial before installing; they send the supercharger tune via email (24–48 hrs).
Year-Specific Fitment
Gladiator JT launched in 2020. ProCharger covers 2020–2024. Ripp covers 2018–2024 (same kit for Wrangler JL and Gladiator JT). Edelbrock Hi-Perf covers 2018–2020 Wrangler JL and 2020 Gladiator JT. Not compatible with eTorque hybrid models. Confirm your model year before ordering.
CARB & Emissions
ProCharger is 50-state CARB certified. Edelbrock Hi-Perf is 50-state emissions-legal. Ripp is CARB pending. Off-road-only kits cannot be registered in California. All Complete kits require 91 octane minimum. Standard warranty is 1-year; extended warranties available.
Installation & Lead Times
Professional install recommended (8–10 hours). Budget for dyno tuning and fluids. Lead times: ProCharger ships in 1–2 business days. Ripp: 2–4 weeks (3 weeks typical; black powder-coated adds ~2 weeks). Edelbrock: varies. Ripp includes 1-step colder spark plugs; ProCharger does not — add them. 3.6L Pentastar uses 6 spark plugs (order qty 2 for boxes of 4).

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between Roots and centrifugal superchargers?
Roots (Edelbrock) delivers more low-mid range torque and instant throttle response; quieter. Centrifugal (ProCharger, Ripp) builds power toward mid-high RPM; often higher peak HP. Both add significant power; choose based on driving style. See our Supercharger Buyers Guide for details.
Do I need a Complete or Tuner kit?
All kits in this guide are Complete Kits — fuel injectors, MAP sensor, fuel pump upgrade, and tuning included. For the Gladiator JT 3.6L, there are no Tuner Kits; Complete is the only option.
Will a supercharger void my warranty?
Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a dealer cannot void your entire warranty for aftermarket parts. However, powertrain claims related to forced induction may be denied. Edelbrock offers a 3-year/36K-mile powertrain warranty with its calibration; other manufacturers offer supplemental warranties.
Which kit fits my 2021+ Gladiator?
ProCharger covers 2020–2024. Ripp covers 2018–2024 (GPEC5 PCM supported to 2024). Edelbrock Hi-Perf covers 2020 Gladiator only. For 2021+ Gladiator, choose ProCharger or Ripp.

What fuel do I need?
All Complete supercharger kits require 91 octane minimum. ProCharger advertises ~425 crank HP on 93 octane; higher octane may allow slightly more aggressive tuning.
