What You Need to Know About Coilovers
Adjustable Height & Damping
Coilovers offer ride height adjustment via threaded bodies or spring perches, and many include damping adjustment (rebound, or compression and rebound). KW's 16-click rebound adjustment lets you fine-tune ride quality without changing height. Each guide breaks down the adjustment range for every kit.
EDC / Electronic Damper Compatibility
Scat Pack, SRT 392, and Hellcat models use factory Bilstein electronic adaptive dampers. Some coilovers require EDC delete modules to disable the system; others (like KW HAS) work with factory dampers. Our guides flag which kits are EDC-compatible and which need the delete module.
Installation & Alignment
Full coilover installation is more involved than swapping springs. You're replacing struts, springs, and often top mounts. Professional installation is recommended. Always budget for a four-wheel alignment after install to preserve tire wear and handling.
Coilovers vs. Lowering Springs
Coilovers give you adjustable height and often damping control, ideal for track use or dialing in your exact stance. Lowering springs offer a fixed drop at lower cost. Check our Suspension Buyers Guide for a full comparison.
RWD vs. AWD
Most coilovers are designed for RWD models. BC Racing BR is AWD-only for Chrysler 300, Challenger GT, and Charger AWD. If you have an AWD 300 or Charger, our guides highlight the kits that fit your platform.
SRT / Scat Pack / Hellcat Fitment
BC Racing DS targets Scat Pack, Hellcat, and Demon specifically. KW V2 RWD fits V6, 5.7L, and 6.4L models. Trim fitment varies by kit — each guide clearly marks which coilovers fit performance trims and which require different part numbers.
