What to Know Before You Buy

RWD Only

The 2008–2010 Challenger was rear-wheel drive only. AWD wasn’t offered until the 2017 Challenger GT. All five coilover options in this guide fit RWD. No need to worry about AWD vs. RWD fitment.

Nivomat / Self-Leveling

Some 2008–2010 Challengers came with Nivomat self-leveling rear shocks. Full coilover kits replace the entire strut assembly, so Nivomat is removed during installation. No compatibility concerns — coilovers are the cleanest solution if you have Nivomat.

Vehicle Age & Shock Wear

These Challengers are 15+ years old. Factory shocks are likely worn. Coilovers replace the entire strut/shock assembly, so you get fresh damping. Budget for a four-wheel alignment after installation.

Coilovers vs. Lowering Springs

Coilovers offer adjustable height and often damping. If you prefer a fixed drop at lower cost, see our lowering springs guide for the Challenger.

Budget Pick

KSport Kontrol Pro Damper Coilovers

$1,313 $1,116 • Taiwan • 36-Click Compression/Rebound

KSport Kontrol Pro Damper Coilovers for 2008-2010 Dodge Challenger

The KSport Kontrol Pro is the budget full coilover for 2008–2010 Challenger. At $1,116 (on sale from $1,313), it’s the cheapest option in this guide. The KSport Challenger kit (CCY030-KP) spans 2008–2023 RWD in its fitment table, so it covers the first-gen Challenger. The -1.4" to -2.6" front and rear drop range is wider than KW’s, with 36-click simultaneous compression and rebound adjustment.

Monotube design, 6061-T6 aluminum components, zinc-plated steel bodies. It replaces factory struts and springs entirely, including Nivomat if equipped. The 12-month warranty is shorter than KW’s. For owners who want full coilover adjustability at the lowest price and accept budget-tier build quality, KSport delivers.

Pros
  • Lowest price in this guide
  • 36-click compression/rebound
  • Wide drop range (-1.4" to -2.6")
  • Fits SE, R/T, SRT8
Cons
  • 12-month warranty
  • Less refined than KW at highway speeds

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to replace my factory shocks when installing coilovers?

No. Coilovers replace both the spring and the shock as a single unit. You remove the factory strut assembly and install the coilover in its place. No separate shock replacement is needed. This also means Nivomat self-leveling is removed if equipped.

Will coilovers void my factory warranty?

Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a dealer cannot void your entire warranty for installing aftermarket parts. However, claims related to suspension components may be denied. On a 2008–2010 vehicle, factory warranties have long since expired.

I have a 2008 SRT8. What are my options?

All five coilover kits in this guide fit the 2008 SRT8. The 2008 was SRT8-only (6.1L). Choose KSport for the lowest price, KW V1 for best value, KW V2 for rebound adjustment, Ridetech for USA-made and widest drop range, or KW Clubsport for track-focused 2-way damping.

Should I get coilovers or lowering springs?

Coilovers give you adjustable height and often damping. Lowering springs offer a fixed drop at lower cost. For the 2008–2010 Challenger, we have a full lowering springs comparison if you prefer that route.

Why isn’t BC Racing BR in this guide?

BC Racing BR is AWD-only. The 2008–2010 Challenger was RWD only; AWD wasn’t offered until the 2017 Challenger GT. All five options in this guide fit RWD.
