What to Know Before You Buy
SRT8 Electronic Damping (EDC)
2012–2014 SRT8 models use factory Bilstein electronic adaptive dampers. Full coilovers (KW V2 w/ EDC, H&R, KSport) replace them entirely. KW H.A.S. and KW HAS Sleeve work with EDC — they keep factory dampers and add height adjustment. If you have a 2012–2014 SRT8 and want to preserve EDC, choose KW HAS.
ST XA Excludes SRT8
The ST Suspensions XA fits 3.6L V6 and 5.7L R/T only — it does not fit the 6.1L SRT8. SRT8 owners must choose KW V2, H&R, KSport, or FOX. KW V2 has two variants: non-EDC (2011 SRT8, all R/T/V6) and EDC (2012–2014 SRT8).
FOX Is Rear-Only
The FOX Performance 2.0 kit converts the rear suspension to coilover and adds reservoir shocks. It does not replace the front struts. Pair with lowering springs or use for rear-only tuning. Standard ($2,500) vs. DSC ($6,000) for 4-way damping.
Coilovers vs. Lowering Springs
Coilovers offer adjustable height and often damping. If you prefer a fixed drop at lower cost, see our lowering springs guide for the Challenger.
KW H.A.S. Coilover Kit
The KW H.A.S. (Height Adjustable Spring) is the best value for 2011–2014 Challenger owners who want adjustable stance without replacing their factory dampers. At $1,094, it’s the cheapest option in this guide. The sleeve kit fits over your existing struts and adds continuous ride height adjustment (0" to -1.0" front / -0.2" to -1.0" rear). KW offers two variants: one for vehicles with electronic damping (2012–2014 SRT8) and one for vehicles without.
If you have a 2012–2014 SRT8 with EDC, the KW HAS Sleeve preserves your factory adaptive damping while delivering a more aggressive stance. Spring rates are tuned to work with OEM dampers. The trade-off is limited drop range compared to full coilovers — this is for mild lowering, not slammed builds. Limited lifetime warranty.
Pros
- Lowest price in this guide
- Keeps factory dampers (including EDC on SRT8)
- Continuous height adjustment
- Limited lifetime warranty
Cons
- Limited drop (-1" max)
- No damping adjustment
- Uses factory dampers (may be worn on older cars)
KSport Kontrol Pro Damper Coilovers
The KSport Kontrol Pro is the budget full coilover for 2011–2014 Challenger. At $1,116 (on sale from $1,313), it’s the cheapest way to get a complete replacement coilover with 36-click simultaneous compression and rebound adjustment. The -1.2" to -2.6" front / -1.8" to -3.1" rear drop range is among the widest in this guide. Monotube design, 6061-T6 aluminum components, zinc-plated steel bodies.
This single SKU fits all RWD 2011–2023 Challengers including SRT8. It replaces factory struts and springs entirely, so EDC is bypassed on 2012–2014 SRT8. The 12-month warranty is shorter than KW or H&R. For owners who want full coilover adjustability at the lowest price and accept budget-tier build quality, KSport delivers.
Pros
- Cheapest full coilover
- 36-click compression/rebound
- Wide drop range, fits all RWD including SRT8
- Monotube design
Cons
- 12-month warranty
- Less refined than KW/H&R at highway speeds
- Replaces EDC (no preservation)
ST Suspensions XA Coilover Kit
The ST Suspensions XA is a KW-developed coilover at a lower price point. It offers 16-click rebound damping and -1.2" to -2.6" front / -1.8" to -3.1" rear drop. Galvanized steel construction, continuous threaded struts, and rebound adjustment at the top of the piston rod. Developed in partnership with KW Automotive.
Important: The ST XA does not fit SRT8. It fits 3.6L V6 and 5.7L R/T models only. SRT8 owners must choose KW V2, H&R, or KSport. Vehicles with EDC require a deactivation kit (sold separately). At $1,399, it sits between KSport and H&R with KW-derived damping technology.
Pros
- KW-derived rebound damping
- 16-click adjustment
- Galvanized steel, proven design
- Mid-range price
Cons
- Does not fit SRT8
- EDC deactivation kit required (sold separately)
- No product image
H&R Street Performance Coilovers
The H&R Street Performance is the best overall full coilover for 2011–2014 Challenger. At $1,620 (on sale from $1,780), it delivers German engineering, mono-tube gas shocks, progressive-rate springs, and -1.2" to -2.5" front / -1.2" to -2.2" rear adjustability. It fits all RWD trims including SRT8. Street-tuned valving means no damping adjustment — H&R has dialed it in for daily comfort with spirited driving capability.
This is the sweet spot for owners who want a complete coilover replacement without the complexity of rebound tuning. The single SKU (50889-3) covers V6, R/T, and SRT8. It replaces factory struts and springs, so EDC is bypassed on 2012–2014 SRT8. Strong community presence and proven reliability make H&R the default recommendation for most 2011–2014 Challenger owners.
Pros
- Best balance of price, quality, and fitment
- Fits V6, R/T, SRT8
- Street-tuned, no damping adjustment needed
- Mono-tube, progressive springs
- Strong community reputation
Cons
- No damping adjustment (fixed valving)
- Replaces EDC
KW V2 Coilover Kit
The KW Variant 2 is the premium coilover choice for 2011–2014 Challenger. KW offers two variants: the non-EDC kit (15227018, $2,954) for 2011 models and all R/T/V6, and the EDC kit (15227021, $3,494) for 2012–2014 SRT8 with electronic damping. Both deliver 16-click rebound adjustment, Inox-Line stainless construction, and -1.2" to -2.6" front / -1.4" to -2.6" rear drop.
German engineering, TÜV certification, Nürburgring testing. The EDC variant requires deactivating the factory electronic damping system. If you want the best full coilover and budget allows, KW V2 is the top tier. Choose the correct kit for your model year and trim.
KW V2 Variants
| Kit | Fits | Part # | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Non-EDC | 2011 SRT8, all R/T, V6 | 15227018 | $2,954 |
| w/ EDC | 2012–2014 SRT8 | 15227021 | $3,494 |
Pros
- German engineering, TÜV certified
- 16-click rebound, Inox-Line stainless
- EDC variant for 2012–2014 SRT8
- Limited lifetime warranty (with dealer install)
Cons
- Most expensive full coilover
- Must order correct kit for EDC vs. non-EDC
FOX Performance 2.0 Coilover Reservoir Shock Kit
The FOX Performance 2.0 Coilover Reservoir Shock Kit is a rear-only upgrade that converts the Challenger’s rear suspension to coilover and adds reservoir shocks. It does not replace the front struts. The standard kit ($2,500) offers adjustable Low-Speed Rebound (LSR). The DSC kit ($6,000) adds 4-way Dual Speed Compression with 24 clicks each for high/low-speed compression and rebound.
Rear drop range is -0.75" to -1.5". The kit improves motion ratio and ride height adjustability at the rear. Pair with lowering springs up front, or use for rear-only tuning. EDC-equipped vehicles may require an electronic shock delete kit. FOX is USA-made, race-proven, and ideal for owners who want to upgrade the rear first or add reservoir damping without a full coilover swap.
FOX Variants
| Kit | Damping | Part # | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | LSR Adjustable | 883-32-000 | $2,500 |

Pros
- Reservoir shocks, race-proven
- USA-made
- DSC variant for 4-way tuning
- Improves rear motion ratio

- Rear only — no front replacement
- Limited rear drop (-1.5" max)
- EDC delete may be required

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to replace my factory shocks when installing coilovers?
Full coilovers (KW V2, H&R, KSport, ST XA) replace both the spring and the shock as a single unit. You remove the factory strut assembly and install the coilover in its place. KW H.A.S. and KW HAS Sleeve keep your factory dampers and add height-adjustable springs. FOX replaces only the rear shocks.
Will coilovers void my factory warranty?
Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a dealer cannot void your entire warranty for installing aftermarket parts. However, claims related to suspension components may be denied. Coilovers typically don’t cause warranty issues elsewhere on the vehicle.
I have a 2012–2014 SRT8 with EDC. What are my options?
KW H.A.S. and KW HAS Sleeve preserve EDC — they add height adjustment while keeping factory dampers. KW V2 w/ EDC (15227021) is the full coilover for SRT8; it requires EDC deactivation. H&R, KSport, and FOX replace the dampers entirely — EDC is bypassed.
Should I get coilovers or lowering springs?
Coilovers give you adjustable height and often damping. Lowering springs offer a fixed drop at lower cost ($200–$600). For the 2011–2014 Challenger, we have a full lowering springs comparison if you prefer that route.
I have an SRT8. Why doesn’t ST XA fit?
The ST Suspensions XA is designed for 3.6L V6 and 5.7L R/T models only. SRT8 (6.1L) is explicitly excluded. Choose KW V2, H&R, KSport, or FOX for SRT8 fitment.
