What You Need to Know About Exhaust Systems
Cat-Back vs Axle-Back
Cat-back replaces mid-pipe + mufflers; axle-back is mufflers/tips only. Cat-back delivers more performance gain; axle-back is lower cost and easier to install.
Sound Profile & Drone
Aggressive systems can drone at cruise. CORSA RSC, Borla designs reduce drone. Research sound profiles before buying — Sport, Xtreme, Touring each have different characteristics.
Materials: 304 vs 409 Stainless
304 stainless is more corrosion-resistant and premium; 409 is budget-friendly. Aluminized is lowest cost. Choose based on climate and longevity expectations.
Emissions & Warranty
Cat-back and axle-back systems install behind the catalytic converter — 50-state emissions legal. Check manufacturer warranty for construction and finish coverage.
