What to Know Before You Buy
RWD vs. AWD
The 2006-2010 Charger was offered in both RWD and AWD. BC Racing BR is the only coilover for AWD models. All other kits (KW V1, KW V2, Ridetech, KW Clubsport) fit RWD only. Confirm your drivetrain before buying.
Nivomat / Self-Leveling
Some 2006-2010 Chargers use factory Nivomat or self-leveling rear shocks. Full coilover kits replace these. If your car has self-leveling, the coilover install will remove it. KW and Ridetech kits are designed for this platform.
Vehicle Age & Shock Wear
These Chargers are 15+ years old. Factory shocks are likely worn. Coilovers replace the entire strut/shock assembly, so you get fresh damping. Budget for a four-wheel alignment after installation.
Coilovers vs. Lowering Springs
Coilovers offer adjustable height and often damping. If you prefer a fixed drop at lower cost, see our lowering springs guide for the Charger.
BC Racing BR Coilovers
The BC Racing BR is the only coilover option for 2006-2010 Charger AWD. It fits 2006-2023 Charger AWD (and Chrysler 300, Challenger GT AWD, Magnum). With 30-click simultaneous compression and rebound adjustment and a -1.0" to -3.0" drop range, it offers strong value for AWD owners who want adjustable suspension.
BC Racing tunes spring rates for comfort and performance. The BR series is their entry-level coilover but delivers solid build quality. RWD Charger owners have four other options; AWD owners have only this kit.
Pros
- Only option for AWD Charger
- 30-click compression/rebound
- Lowest price of the five
- Wide drop range (-1" to -3")
Cons
- AWD only — does not fit RWD
- Budget brand (less proven than KW)
KW Variant 1 Coilover Kit
The KW V1 is the most affordable full coilover for 2006-2010 Charger RWD. It offers adjustable ride height (-0.8" to -2.0" front, -0.9" to -2.1" rear) with factory-preset damping. Replaces the factory self-leveling shocks with sport-tuned dampers. Fits 2.7L, 3.5L V6, 5.7L Hemi, and 6.1L SRT8.
Ideal for owners who want KW quality and height adjustability without the cost of rebound damping. The preset damping is tuned for street use. Stainless Inox-Line construction resists corrosion.
Pros
- KW quality at lowest RWD price
- Fits all RWD trims
- Stainless construction
- Replaces self-leveling shocks
Cons
- Fixed damping (no adjustment)
- RWD only
KW Variant 2 Coilover Kit
The KW V2 adds 16-click rebound damping to the V1 formula. Same drop range (-0.8" to -2.0" front, -0.9" to -2.1" rear) and trim coverage (all RWD), but you can fine-tune handling. Replaces factory self-leveling shocks with sport-tuned dampers. TUV certified, stainless construction.
The rebound adjustment lets you dial in comfort for daily use or firmness for spirited driving. Most versatile RWD option for the 2006-2010 Charger.
Pros
- 16-click rebound damping
- Fits all RWD trims
- German engineering, TUV certified
- Stainless Inox-Line construction
Cons
- Higher price than V1
- RWD only
Ridetech HQ Coilovers Complete Kit
The Ridetech HQ Complete Kit fits 2006-2023 Charger RWD (and Challenger, 300, Magnum). USA-made, popular in the pro-touring community. Full front-and-rear coilover setup with adjustable rebound damping and -1.0" to -3.0" height range. Replaces factory suspension entirely.
Ridetech is known for quality and customer support. The HQ kit is a complete solution; do not confuse with Front-only or Rear-only products sold separately.
Pros
- USA-made
- Widest drop range (-1" to -3")
- Fits all RWD trims
- Adjustable rebound damping
Cons
- Premium price
- RWD only
KW Clubsport Coilover Kit
The KW Clubsport is the track-focused option. Developed with motorsport input and tested at the Nürburgring, it offers 2-way (compression and rebound) damping adjustment. Same drop range as V1/V2 but with race-bred valving. Street-legal and suitable for daily use, but optimized for track days and autocross.
Ideal for drivers who split time between street and track. The 2-way adjustment allows fine-tuning for different circuits or conditions. Highest price of the five.
Pros
- 2-way compression/rebound adjustment
- Track-developed, Nürburgring tested
- Street-legal, daily drivable
- Fits all RWD trims
Cons
- Highest price
- May be overkill for street-only use
- RWD only

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to replace my factory shocks when installing coilovers?
No. Coilovers replace both the spring and the shock as a single unit. You remove the factory strut assembly and install the coilover in its place. No separate shock replacement is needed.
I have an AWD Charger. What are my options?
Only BC Racing BR fits AWD. It covers 2006-2023 Charger AWD with 30-click damping and -1" to -3" drop range at $1,195. All other kits are RWD only.
What's the difference between KW V1 and V2?
Both fit all RWD trims with the same drop range. V1 has fixed (preset) damping. V2 adds 16-click rebound adjustment so you can tune handling. V2 costs about $550 more.
Should I get coilovers or lowering springs?
Coilovers give you adjustable height and often damping. Lowering springs offer a fixed drop at lower cost. For the Charger, we have a lowering springs comparison if you prefer that route.
My Charger has self-leveling rear shocks. Will coilovers work?
Yes. Full coilover kits replace the factory suspension, including self-leveling (Nivomat) shocks. The coilover becomes the new rear suspension. KW and Ridetech kits are designed for this platform.
Which coilover is best for track use?
KW Clubsport is the track-focused option with 2-way compression/rebound adjustment. KW V2 and Ridetech also work for track use. KW V1 has fixed damping, so it's less tunable.
